Our Mission & Vision
Making Disciples / Loving Others
Responding to God’s great gift in Jesus Christ and blessed by a rich heritage, Berryville Baptist Church seeks to make disciples by caring for its members, the community and the world through worship, preaching, teaching, fellowship and ministry.
Berryville Baptist Church is a caring family of Christian believers located in Berryville, Virginia. We gather to regularly worship God, employ and develop believers to become followers of Christ, and to learn and apply Christ’s teachings. We are a missions forward church who is passionate about caring for people in need, and supporting local and global missions through both our efforts and in cooperation with other congregations.
Berryville Baptist Church was founded in 1772 with 29 members. The church’s first structure was erected on a site north of Berryville, which is today commemorated by a historical marker located on Route 340.
James Ireland, an early pastor of Berryville Baptist Church, is buried at the original site of the church building. Pastor Ireland had a tremendous heart for the Lord and was known for fearlessly preaching the Word of God. He was jailed in Culpeper, VA for preaching without a license from the local Anglican authorities.
The current sanctuary was built following the Civil War, with additions made in the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Our Beliefs & Values
Our faith is at the intersection of all we do. It inspires us in how we live out the great commission to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
For us, faith is more than just believing about God. It is loving God wholeheartedly. This relationship with God is something we feel intensely and it motivates us to give our best to God and do our best for God.
Grace Filled Love
In all that we do, we try to love others just as God loves us, with an unconditional love that accepts all people.
Heart Felt Praise & Worship
Praising God is the centerpiece of our ministry. Each Sunday, we gather to hear God’s word, as well as to worship God with prayer and praise, and with our commitment and gifts. Central to our worship is the Biblically-centered preaching of God’s Word, and the two ordinances of believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.
Biblical Education, Discipleship, & Fellowship
We strive to help each other, young and old, grow spiritually by developing habits of prayer and worship, deepening our knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, supporting each other, and holding one another accountable through fellowship.
We also enjoy the togetherness and work of providing dinners, parties, receptions, and other events that bring us closer throughout the year.
Missions and outreach is the goal of all that we do. Our Lord calls us to carry the gospel into our community, as well as the farthest reaches of our world. Through missions, community service, feeding the hungry, mission trips, and offerings, we seek to fulfill this high calling.
